The Power to Speak into the Darkness
Except for man, who was crafted by God’s hand, every creation was spoken by God into existence. He commanded light, water, earth, fauna, and flora, and every conceivable creation to come forth and take shape. The word of the Lord holds power beyond comprehension. The same power was given to His only and begotten Son. Matthew 11:27 says, “27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.”
Jesus is the rock of our salvation, and anyone who accepts Him becomes co-heirs of God’s Kingdom (Romans 8:17). Therefore, the power vested in Christ will also be vested in us once we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. We receive a portion of God’s power, and through this power, we can declare blessings or curses. Through our tongue, we yield a power that can conjure life or death, healing or sickness, prosperity or ruin. The same power that called upon light to appear is available for us. We are more than capable of speaking into the darkness and commanding it. The same power that created the world can create the future we dream of. After all, it is God’s design to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
Speaking into the darkness means choosing to declare blessings in the midst of our anger. It’s choosing to worship the Lord’s magnificence despite the storms we’re experiencing. It’s having bravery in the face of adversity and letting the darkness know that God’s word dwells in you. It is ordering that light shine into the crevices of the hearts of those who are lost in this world’s darkness.
The dark cowers in the presence of light. We must find our confidence in Christ. Speak life and use the power given to us by being co-heirs of Christ, to declare and become witnesses of His grace. We have the power to speak against the darkness of this fleshly world.
